Connecticut

The third smallest of the U.S. states by area is Connecticut, located in the northeast. Connecticut has a coastline facing the Atlantic Ocean. It is located on Long Island Sound, the inlet on which Long Island, which belongs to New York State, is also located. The capital of Connecticut is Hartford, with a population of about 120,000. The largest city in the state, however, is Bridgeport, with about 140,000 inhabitants.
The highest point of Connecticut is on the southern slope of Mount Frissell and is 725 meters high. However, the 748-meter peak is already in the neighboring state of Massachusetts. The mountain belongs to the Appalachian mountain range. Connecticut belongs to the so-called Thirteen Colonies. The Thirteen Colonies were those British colonies that declared their independence from the British colonial power in 1776 through the Declaration of Independence. Connecticut is home to Yale University, one of the most elite universities in the world.
