Online

Online is an English word, and it means: to be connected to a computer network. It is pronounced "on lein". The opposite is "offline". Although there are many different networks, it usually means the Internet.

When someone is playing a computer game or chatting with others over a network, and then goes offline, the connection breaks. It is not possible to continue playing or writing until the person is back online. Many other things can also be done online.
