Saxony-Anhalt belongs to the new federal states and its capital is Magdeburg. Saxony-Anhalt has no external borders with any other state. The highest mountain in Saxony-Anhalt is the Brocken. This is with 1,141 meters height also the highest mountain in the Harz.
