Snowman

A snowman is a figure made of snow that is usually made to look like a person. Snowmen are a symbol of winter. They also come in plush, plastic or porcelain. There are even snowman costumes to dress up in.
To make a snowman, snowballs are rolled in the snow until they have grown into large balls. The snow has to be a little damp so that it holds together well. You then usually stack three of these balls on top of each other: the lowest ball should represent the area of the legs, the middle one the torso of the body and the top one the head. A carrot serves as the nose, stones or pieces of coal as eyes, mouth and buttons. An old cooking pot becomes the hat and the snowman still holds a brushwood broom.
A snowman can be very small, but also several metres high. Stones, branches, grass, pine cones and anything else you can find can be used to decorate it. Of course, you can also build snowwomen, snow animals or other things out of snow. If there is only a little snow, you often collect a lot of dirt when rolling the balls and the snowman will not be as white.
